Many people come to the
East Cape to fish. Whenever we come, we fish. There are many
excellent books and resources to guide you if you are interested in fishing.
Here are some brief notes about fishing from the Casa
Directly in front of the Casa is a broad sandy beach with virtually no structure in the water. You can surf cast here anytime with the possibility of catching something. The area is noted for Roosterfish. In the summer roosterfish are often seen feeding directly in front of the house.
If you want to rent a boat and fish for offshore species (eg dorado, marlin, wahoo etc.) there are panga's to rent in La Ribera, at Rancho Leonero, and at Punta Colorada.
If you spearfish, there are some spots within an ATV ride of the casa that can produce pargo, cabrilla, and gafftopsail pompano.
Bring your own gear or rent as part of your panga rental.
